Harned (b.1927) served as a fighter pilot in the Air Force from 1948-1952 and in the Wisconsin Air National Guard as an air technician from 1955-1987. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in industrial psychology, and he currently resides in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin. At Harris Neck, Georgia, in the remote northern reaches of McIntosh County, the United States government, in the fall of 1942, confiscated the lands along the South Newport and Barbour Island Rivers. Paved runways were constructed for aircraft, and Harris Neck became an air reconnaissance base for the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
